Note for the Reader.
The present is the eleventh volume of the Registers of the Diocese of Lichfield which has been completed by the Shropshire Parish Register Society. It consists of the Registers of Wroxeter, Hodnet, and Weston under Red Castle. In this volume, as has been the plan adopted by the Council throughout, the Registers are not printed verbatim et literatim, but in abstract form, all mere verbiage being omitted, though every fact is recorded, and all occurrences, remarkable events, terriers, &c., given in the Registers are printed in full. The following abbreviations have been adopted:-

Since the Hodnet Register was printed. Mr. A. Heber-Percy, the lord of the manor and patron of Hodnet, and a member of the Council of the Society, who most generously contributed towards the cost of printing the Register of his parish, passed away on May 12th to the great regret of all who knew him.
